An idyllic retreat in the heart of Diekirch

An urban oasis

Completed in 2021, this project, which includes the installation of a biopool, transforms a narrow urban garden in Diekirch into a green paradise in the heart of the city. Our mission: to maximise space to create the longest possible pool within the property's boundaries, replacing the old lawn with a design featuring clean lines, refined materials and timeless elegance.

The resulting composition embraces modern minimalism — an interplay of geometry, texture, and balance. The biopool extends like a mirror through the garden, its sharp contours softened by a delicate planting scheme of ornamental grasses such as Stipa tenuissima, lavenders, and the sculptural dwarf pine Pinus mugo ‘Pumilio’. These plantings provide movement, fragrance, and structure throughout the seasons, bringing subtle contrasts to the architectural clarity of the space.

Modern Structure, Natural Finish

A key feature of the project is the pool house, a striking yet understated modern structure defined by aluminium framing and wooden cladding. This architectural element provides both functionality and visual harmony, echoing the material palette of the pool terrace.

  1. Solid Ipé wood decking

  2. Concrete slabs

The terrace and pool deck are made from concrete slabs (1 × 1 meter) with a smooth, polished finish, underlining the minimalist, contemporary character of the design. The warm tones of IPE wood, used for the decking and pool edges, provide a natural contrast. Its fine grain and robustness enhance both durability and aesthetic richness.
